Instructions for accessing Mathematica

When you are connecting from off-campus or (possibly) wirelessly on-campus, you will need to use a VPN client, which can be downloaded here:

http://www1.umn.edu/adcs/help/vpn/

Run the VPN client when you are connected to the internet but before you attempt to access mathematica.

Then, do the following:

For Windows:

You will need to use Remote Desktop Connection, which is located in Start->Accessories->Remote Desktop Connection

When it opens, type in freya.cla.umn.edu

When it asks for credentials, type your x500 username and password

The system may give you a login error when you connect initially. Just click “OK” and in the login box, put your x500 username and password, and change the “Domain” setting on the bottom to read “AD”

You should then be able to run Mathematica from the Start menu.

For Mac:

You’ll need to download the Remote Desktop Connection Client from here:

http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/networking_security/remotedesktopconnectionclient.html

And then follow the instructions from above.

For students in IT, you may have access through: https://wwws.cs.umn.edu/download_software/mathematica
