This section explains how to prepare your system to develope pure Java programs using Eclipse and psychWithJava package. The instructions apply to all operating systems. Eclipse is an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) that makes development much easier and faster. See The Guide to Psychophysics Programming with Java, Chapter 1: Introduction, Section 7. That Section contains further information about Eclipse and other development tools.

• If you haven't done yet, install Eclipse on your OS as described in Chapter 1: Introduction, Section 7.
• Start Eclipse. Click Window -> Preferences. On the "Preferences" window, go to Java -> Build Path -> Classpath Variables. Click on "New".
  

• "New Variable Entry" window should appear. On that window enter the full path to the psychWithJava.jar file (or click on "File" to browse your filesystem.) Enter a name for the variable. Click OK.
  

• Now psychWithJava should be visible among the Classpath Variables on the "Preferences" window. Click OK.
