PSY 5065 Homework 6:  Contrast in the real world.

In reality, no image is every purely T1- or T2-weighted.

Go to the <a href="http://104.236.6.144/caolman/mriSims/> mriSims </a> site 
and complete the following simulations:

Use the FLASH pulse sequence and the regular "phantom" for all of them.

Start by getting a purely proton-density-weighted image.  Do this by
choosing a very long TR and a very short TE.
  To turn in:  What TR and TE did you use, and why does each of these
  minimize relaxation-based contrast?

Next, leave the TR very long, and choose a TE that creates T2* contrast.
  To turn in:  What TE did you choose?  Describe how the contrast you see
  in the image matches the T2 map.

Finally, drop the TE to 1 ms and choose a TR that will give you T1 contrast.
  To turn in:  Describe the contrast you see in the image, and how its
  differences from the (first) proton density image can be described by
  the T1 of the sample.
